Albariño Mar de Frades Vintage 2016 Rías Baixas DO is considered to be one of the most respected white wines in the world. The 2015 harvest is characterised by its bright, raw-lime color, with glints of greengages. This radiant appearance announces the aromas you can find on the nose, with mango, pineapple and lychees mingling with wild blossom and the balsamic notes of eucalyptus. On the palate, its power comes through in its fresh saltiness and its Atlantic stamp is shown in its mineral nuances and the lingering persistency of the tropical fruit. It is bottled in blue glass, in honour of the ocean that embraces the Galicia's vineyards which causes this wine to combine with seafood harmoniously.
Ideal serving temperature between 8ºC and 10ºC (when the blue ship appears on the label). Thanks to its intense salty aromas, the 2016 vintage makes a harmonious companion for very spicy dishes such as Sushi, Pad Thai, Dim Sum or Mexican meat dishes.
WINEMAKING NOTES: "We chose the exact moment to pick and, that very day, all the clusters passed through our sorting table where any clusters with “imperfections” were removed from the process. This year we rejected 18% of the grapes. The selected grapes then macerated with CO2 for 24 hours to obtain clear, strongly aromatic musts. Then slow, controlled fermentation produced the saline aromas which are characteristic of Mar de Frades."
